About A.B.A. Well and Septic Service

We are continuously looking for ways of improvement in order to keep our company running as smooth and efficient as possible.

We have a professionally staffed office that provides scheduling to our customers and is trained to answer your questions. If further assistance is needed in answering your questions, a technician will be contacted and our office will be able to further assist you. Our office staff works diligently in order to have invoicing and reports in the agent’s hands upon completion of the services ordered.

After years of research, speaking with other professionals and homeowners, seminars, and observation of septic inspection techniques of other septic companies, we have designed an inspection process that is a step above all the rest and unique to the industry. In prior years, septic inspectors would only inspect the septic tank after it was pumped. We developed a rigorous inspection and testing process where we inspect all of the system components including the septic tank and the distribution box. We do an absorption test on the drainfield to insure the functionality of the system. Even if the home has been vacant for a long period of time, this will reveal any problems with the system.

Robert H. Smallwood Jr.
President/Co-Owner

Robert Smallwood Jr. began working in the industrial wastewater business in the mid 1980’s. In the late 1980’s, he started working in the municipal wastewater business. In the early 1990’s, he began working and became certified as a waterworks operator. He was the Director of Utilities for the Town of Surry until A.B.A. Well and Septic Services Inc. was established.

Robert Smallwood lll began working in the municipal wastewater business in the 1990’s. Then he served a 3 year apprenticeship with a local septic tank installer and service provider. The owner of the septic company he was employed with decided to retire. Robert Smallwood Jr. and Robert Smallwood lll had the opportunity to buy the trucks and the septic pumping portion of his business. This father and son team started their business venture and opened up A.B.A. Well and Septic Services.

Emily Edwards
Office Manager

Emily Edwards has resided in Ivor her entire life. She has a strong tie to the community and surrounding areas. She has 23 years of experience in customer service. Her ability to talk to her customers and answer their questions is one of her greatest assets. Emily went to college at Paul D. Camp Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and Accounting. Since joining the team at A.B.A. in April 2010, she has come to know many of our homeowners and agents and is always looking forward to getting to know someone new. Emily makes sure you stay informed of your scheduled services and of any repairs and maintenance needed on your system. She is always there to assist you and follow-up when your system is in need of routine maintenance.

Jeanie Jackson
Office Assistant

Jeanie Jackson joined our team on March 27, 2012. She is a longtime resident of Southampton County. She was a restaurant owner for many years. She has been in customer service since 1986. She is still in training but is there to assist you with any questions you may have and to schedule appointments. Also, Jeanie is our sales representitive for the grease hauling business.
